Digital Agenda Going Local

16/09/2016

Following three successful "Digital Agenda going local" events held in Dublin (2011), Riga (2012) and Warsaw (June 2013), the TEN Section is now organising a conference on Internet  potential for growth: employment and entrepreneurship in Malta, with the support of Maltese EESC member and president of the Single Market Observatory, Ms Anna Maria Darmanin.

This conference is part of the EESC's efforts to bring the Europe 2020 flagship initiative on the "Digital Agenda for Europe" to a civil society audience in the Member States. The objective of the event is to focus attention at national level on the Digital Agenda and its importance for economic growth, job creation and social inclusion.

The conference will provide an opportunity for European and Maltese entrepreneurs, workers' representatives, consumer organisations and trade unions to share their views with policy-makers and EESC members in two interactive sessions on:

  • getting more out of the internet as a driver of growth; and
  • the potential benefits of more IT for European companies, particularly in Malta.

A key feature of "Digital Agenda going local" events is the generous amount of time set aside for debate with panellists, EESC members and the audience.
