Discussion between the Economic and Social Council (ESC) and social partners, and Valdis Dombrovskis, Vice-President of the European Commission responsible for social dialogue and the euro

16/09/2016

On 2 July 2015, the ESC and social partners welcomed Valdis Dombrovskis, Vice-President of the European Commission responsible for social dialogue and the euro, for a two-hour discussion on the European Semester and, more specifically, the country report of 26 February 2015 and the recommendations made to Luxembourg on 13 May 2015.

The Vice-President of the ESC, Marco Wagener, opened the meeting by detailing the regular coordination between the government, the ESC and social partners in the context of the European Semester and related projects, particularly the national reform programme and the Stability and Growth Pact.

Mr Dombrovskis then made a statement regarding the European Commission's analysis of Luxembourg and the recommendations that had followed. Mr Dombrovskis also discussed recent developments within the euro area.

The presentation was followed by a lively discussion with social partners, who expressed their views on these subjects.
