Europe urgently needs pragmatic and workable solutions for employment, and education is to be a priority for the European countries - these were the main messages of the participants in the international conference "Youth Education and Employment within the Europe 2020 Strategy" held on 8 June 2012 in Sofia. It was organised by the Bulgarian Economic and Social Council /ESC/, Group III of the European Economic and Social Committee /EESC/, the Bulgarian Ministry of Labour and Social Policy and the Representation of the European Commission in Bulgaria.
The conference was attended by over a hundred Bulgarian and foreign guests, including thirty Committee members from twenty Member States, ESC members, representatives of the Bulgarian government and Parliament, European Commission (EC), Bulgarian universities, teachers, NGOs, scientists, experts, students and others. The main topics were the role of universities for training and realization of youth people, policies and measures to prevent early school leaving, and the support for growth and employment.
When opening the conference, the ESC President Prof. Lalko Dulevski stated that the education and employment are of key importance for Bulgaria, and the event gave an opportunity for the civil society and institutions in Bulgaria and the European Union to identify the problems and seek decisions through reaching consensus between all stakeholders.
Online Cooperation of the Economic and Social Councils
