European Consumer Day 2017 | 21 March 2017

03/03/2017

The Digital Single Market: How does it benefit consumers?

Today's digital transformation is reshaping our lives and our economies, generating profound changes in the way we produce, consume and access to services. But equally importantly, Europe needs a fully operational Digital Single Market to ensure that all European citizens can benefit from the advantages of the digital era safely and on an equal footing.

Many exciting questions will be put to our participants this year. What are he expected impacts on our everyday lives in the very near future? Are we aware of the pitfalls and risks when sharing our data online or feeding big data? How will Artificial Intelligence change production and consumption? How can digital technology effectively support the transition towards a more sustainable economy? How does a digitally-supported collaborative economy tie in with consumers' rights as we know them?

All these ideas and more will be explored in the 2017 edition of European Consumer Day. Organised by the EESC for the last 18 years, this annual event will bring together consumers, policy-makers and IT experts not only to weigh in on the issues affecting digital consumers but also to shape the European dialogue about the Digital Single Market.

To learn more about what the Digital Single Market means to the choices you make, join us in Malta on 21 March 2017. Registration is now open till 15 March, and while it is free of charge, seating is limited. The conference will be held at Le Méridien St. Julians Hotel & Spa  39 Main Street, Balluta Bay - St. Julian's - STJ 1017 Malta.
