EUROPEAN ENERGY UNION HOLDS OUT OPPORTUNITIES AND CHALLENGES TO BULGARIA

16/03/2017

ESC on its Plenary Session held on February 24, 2017 adopted resolution entitled “European Energy Union: impact and effects for civil society”. The resolution estimates the importance of the European Energy Union Project (EEUP) for Bulgaria and its positive influence on the energy sector, business and citizens.

ESC outlines that an in-depth analysis of the European Energy Union Project influence on main economic sectors and SMEs is needed. ESC insists also for a package of measures preventing the energy poverty phenomenon to be created.

The changes that occur with the liberalization of the energy market on a national level and the establishment of European Energy Union pose a challenge to all stakeholders. The progress towards the common objectives depends on mutual commitment, dialogue and confidence that should accompany the whole process.
