The European Economic and Social Committee is following up on its engagement to "bring Rio home". On 18 December the EESC will be organising together with the European Commission a public hearing in order to enhance the impact of theCommission's ongoing consultation on the EU follow-up to Rio+20 by giving civil society representatives the opportunity to discuss statements related to the questions raised in the consultation.
We invite representatives from national and European civil society organisations and networks, national Economic and Social Councils and Sustainable Development Councils and think tanks to engage in discussion with each other and with representatives from EU institutions. The hearing will be structured as such:

We encourage stakeholders which can not join us physically at the hearing to discuss with us online. The hearing will be webstreamed (click here) and covered on Twitter.
The questions submitted through the social media will be presented to speakers on the day of the event.
Civil society experts working on sustainable development and Rio+20 follow-up can also use the EESC Rio+20 platform as a forum to exchange views, spread relevant background information and highlight news and events while the Commission's consultation is running.
