Youth Education and Employment within the Europe 2020 Strategy

The "Various Interests" Group of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) is organising a conference in Sofia, Bulgaria, in collaboration with the Bulgarian Economic and Social Council, the Bulgarian Ministry of Labour and Social Policy and the Representation of the European Commission in Bulgaria.

Tsetska Tsacheva, President of the 41st National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria, and the Mayor of Sofia, Yordanka Fandakova, have been invited to take part in the opening session.

The keynote address will be given by Totyu Mladenov, Minister for Labour and Social Policy, Government of Bulgaria. Topics down for discussion include: “The role of the universities for the training and realization of young people”; “Policies and measures for prevention of early school leaving” and “Supporting growth and jobs: an agenda for the modernisation of Europe’s higher education systems”.

A large cross-section of local civil society organisations have been invited to participate.
