The study on Femmes et précarité, published in March 2013 by the French Economic, Social and Environmental Council, was presented at the Walloon Council for Gender Equality (CWEHF).
The extension of the continental shelf beyond 200 nautical miles: an asset for France
The 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, «a true constitution of the oceans», and more precisely Article 76 thereof, gives coastal states the possibility to extend their continental shelf beyond 200 nautical miles. Thus, France, thanks to its Overseas Territories, can expect to expand its sovereign rights over the natural resources of the seabed and subsoil by approximately 2 million km2.

The Austrian ESC celebrates the 50th anniversary of its establishment and organises in cooperation with the EESC a conference on "Shaping Change" to be held in Vienna on 31 March and 1 April 2014.
Nearly 200 communications experts from civil society organisations, EU and national public administrations, and the worlds of academia and the media met in Brussels for the 7th annual civil society media seminar organised by the EESC in partnership with the European Parliament.
