The "Various Interests" Group of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) is organising a conference in Sofia, Bulgaria, in collaboration with the Bulgarian Economic and Social Council, the Bulgarian Ministry of Labour and Social Policy and the Representation of the European Commission in Bulgaria.

With a major share of the world’s population living in poverty, increasing environmental degradation and over-consumption of natural resources, we are a long way from a sustainable world.
Today the EESC marked World Environment Day with an initiative on transformative partnerships to address poverty and the green economy ahead of the Rio+20 conference. We have hosted a structured dialogue between Europe's leaders, champions in the green economy, agents of change and eco-innovators.

Invited by Jean-Paul Delevoye, President of the French ESEC,President Staffan Nilsson attends a Plenary session of the French Economic, Social and Environmental Council which the newly elected President Francois Hollande will address for the first time in his capacity as President of the French Republic.
Europe urgently needs pragmatic and workable solutions for employment, and education is to be a priority for the European countries - these were the main messages of the participants in the international conference "Youth Education and Employment within the Europe 2020 Strategy" held on 8 June 2012 in Sofia. It was organised by the Bulgarian Economic and Social Council /ESC/, Group III of the European Economic and Social Committee /EESC/, the Bulgarian Ministry of Labour and Social Policy and the Representation of the European Commission in Bulgaria.
